Title of the course/domaine/keyword | Wireless Structural Health Monitoring (WSHM) |
Explanatory text | Background: The Civil Infrastructures suffer structural damages because of hard environmental terms of overload situations. In order to know the structural health of the buildings SHM appears. The first systems were wired and they were very expensive. Thus, WSHM are emerging strongly in order to minimize cost and visual impact. The research subject will be to develop a low cost (in deployment and management) and autonomous Wireless SHM system based on IEEE 802.15.4 standard capable of detect and localize structural damages in civil buildings. Thus, the system will use the mesh routing capacity of the standard and the different techniques of power save in order to maximize the autonomy of the different nodes. 1. Development of the State of the Art of SHM technologies, including local and global parameter-based methods and all the commercial and academic system. 2. Study of SHM algorithms (analytically and in a simulation tool) and develope a new SHM algorithm.3. Development of an IEEE802.15.4 network.4. Development of the autonomous nodes. Integrate the SHM algorithm and the wireless network in the developed system.5. Testing of the developed system in laboratory, installing the system in a miniaturized structure.6. Testing of the system performance in real bridges using real time monitoring of the system. We have agreements with the local government to install SHM devices on bridges with different structures (wood, concrete and metal).5 Keywords: Structural Health Monitoring, Low power IEEE802.15.4 network, Wireless Sensor Networks, Low power consumtion system, Algorithms for Structural Health Monitoring |
