| Explanatory text | Multiphase variable-speed drives have become a viable alternative to their three-phase counterparts due to the better fault tolerance and reduced power per inverter phase rating. Five- and six-phase induction machines are the two options with a good prospect for industrial applications. The student will have to study the most common modulation techniques and control structures in three-phase drives to extend their control structures to the multiphase case, with the idea of implementing a real application for the automotive industry. |
