Explanatory text | The BSc Hons Biomedical Science programmes are designed to enable you to develop integrate and apply scientific knowledge understanding and skills in the multidisciplinary investigation of human disease and disorder. During the first year all students will follow a common programme of study. However the BSc Hons Applied Biomedical Science sandwich programme offers you the additional opportunity to undertake a 12month intercalated work based placement in an accredited NHS clinical laboratory to gain professional competence. Please note the BSc Hons Biomedical Science programme does not offer the work placement opportunity however there is flexibility to transfer onto the BSc Hons Applied Biomedical Science pathway dependant on places after successful completion of year one. Graduates from the BSc Hons Applied Biomedical Science programme who successfully complete their work placement and are awarded the Competence Certificate may be eligible to apply directly to the Health Professions Council HPC to register as a qualified |

Academic Requirements | Applicants who wish to undertake this course without the foundation should have five GCSEs or equivalent to include GCSE English Language Mathematics and Science or equivalent as well as one of the following UCAS Tariff 260 points from at least 2 A levels to include a grades CC in Biology and Chemistry or 280 points from at least 2 A levels to include a grade C in Biology and an equivalent Science where AS Chemistry has been taken and achieved a grade C. Physics. Psychology. IT. Maths. Food Technology. Environmental Science or Geography cardiffmet Foundation leading to BSc Health Sciences BTEC National Certificate or Diploma 260 points within a Applied Sciences 260 points from Highers within the Irish Leaving Certificate to include Biology and Chemistry. Higher Level subjects considered only with a minimum grade C2. Pass Access Course with 45 credits at Level 3 within a Science subject Qualifications equivalent to the above |
